What is Induction Sealing?

induction sealing lab equipment

Induction sealing is a unique process that assures the hermetic sealing of containers using a non-contact method.

The process involves using an induction current to heat an aluminum foil liner which is designed to bond with the bottle or container's neck, forming a tight seal.

The result? A container that remains impervious to external contaminants, ensuring product integrity and shelf life stability.
Unparalleled Sealing Solutions.

The FORDS Approach

Our world-renowned capping and sealing systems deliver reliability, precision, and speed. Drawing upon our wealth of engineering expertise, we've been able to tailor our induction technology to provide unparalleled sealing solutions for a range of diverse needs.

Our rotary sealing systems are built to serve high volume production demands and can achieve astounding speeds beyond 1,000cpm. Alternatively, our Linear Belt Sealer offers the ultimate versatility by being configurable for varied cap sizes and container heights, and is capable of speeds up to 300cpm.

The precision of these systems ensures that the pulse-generated magnetic field heats the aluminum cap efficiently, creating a solid bond without compromising the container or its contents.

The Benefits of Primary Induction Sealing

Simple Separation of Materials

Our induction sealing technology allows us to balance the strength of the seal with the ease of the peel. That makes it simple for the consumer to peel away the foil in a single motion, keep the foil cap intact as one piece and leave no residue on the container so that both items can then be recycled without issue.

Achieving Greater Accessibility

Induction technology empowers us to craft an easy opening experience for any demographic. By precisely testing and refining factors like peel initiation and peak peel force requirements, we can deliver a seal that aligns with both brand expectations and consumer needs. And thanks to the no-direct-heat sealing, we can utilize foldback tabs for easy opening, a feature only possible with induction sealing.

Enhanced Aesthetics

Induction sealed foil caps allow you to utilise a range of embossing, debossing and print techniques to add value to your packaging. Carry your brand identity further with printing in brand colours or make use of QR codes to allow consumers to connect with your brand in more meaningful ways through digitial experiences.

Precision Sealing

Induction sealing generates a pulsed magnetic field that creates induction currents in the aluminium cap, ensuring a consistent and precise seal every time. This produces fewer errors and a higher-quality end product.

No Direct Heat Contact

Since induction sealing heats the foil liner internally through electromagnetic fields, there's no direct contact with heat elements. This reduces the risk of melting or damaging the container or cap.

Cooler Operation

Induction sealing heads don’t stay hot between sealing processes. This ensures a safer working environment and longer equipment lifespan.

Greater Energy Efficiency

Induction sealing often requires less power to run in the long term compared to conduction sealing. This means lower energy usage and a smaller carbon footprint.

Better Adhesive Curing

Because the induction head can continue to press down on the container after heat has been applied, it allows the adhesive more time to cool and 'cure', creating a stronger, more reliable seal.

Scalability and Adaptability

Induction sealing technology can be tailored to fit various production needs, from high-speed, high-volume outputs to more agile and adaptable requirements. The flexibility ensures that as your production needs evolve, your induction sealing solution can keep pace.
