Breaking The Mold.

Setting Your Brand Apart

Our closures free your brand from the restrictions and conventions that have stood for too long, and open up a whole world of new packaging possibilities.

Packaging no longer has to be bound to the rigid formats established decades ago. Design trends fluctuate, technology continually advances and consumer demands evolve, so why should packaging remain stagnant?

FORDS can help distinguish your brand from the competition by unlocking container shapes and dimensions that were previously off limits due to standard screw-on and snap-on overcaps.

Our tried and trusted development expertise provides the platform for your brand to be bold, daring and novel - whilst retaining operational efficiencies. So why not stand out on the shelf or screen with impactful design? Why not show the world your commitment to sustainability with material reduction and lightweighting? Why not deliver the opening experience your consumers' truly desire?

What Is Progress In Packaging?

What constitutes progress in packaging? We believe it's more than just glossier print and fancier images all within the same confines.

Surely, in today's landscape, it means pushing the boundaries in every metric from aesthetics to weight reduction to recyclability to seal integrity and more. It's breaking the mold. It's attempting to achieve the extraordinary.

If sustainable lightweight packaging that stands up to intensive manufacturing processes, delivers peace of mind to consumers, extends shelf life, creates excitement around your brand and addresses the climate concerns facing our world is possible then surely we should strive for it.

Packaging Sustainability

What is sustainability? What does it mean for consumers? What does it mean for brand owners and manufacturers?

We believe it has many different definitions depending on who is asked the question. It's no wonder everyone is confused - no one more so than the consumers themselves.

What are the right packaging choices to make? And just how achievable are they? Our Futurology department is here to help you gain clarity on these questions and uncover packaging breakthroughs with soundly engineered solutions.

While the debate around sustainable materials has become more sophisticated over time, one constant theme has been the cost-effectiveness of recycling aluminium.

Aluminium takes little additional energy to melt down and, unlike plastic, it can be recycled an infinite number of times. What’s more, the market for used aluminium has remained robust - it actually has a nominal value. Pair that with the fact consumers are statistically much more likely to recycle aluminium than not and you have a very sustainable resource.

Clearly, this gives closures like ours an advantage in the packaging sustainability stakes, but we appreciate more can be done than simply saying a foil cap is recyclable.

We believe most packaging materials have their place if propositioned correctly and if recycling infrastructure is strengthened.

Where we add real value on this matter is by working with brands closely across their entire package - not just the primary seal. By analyzing the container material, the geometry of the container, the fill product, the structure and suitability of the foil and the cap geometry, we can deliver game-changing advancements in sustainability.

We never send customers away to modify their containers or remedy their overcap issues. We take on those design problems as if they are our own.

Whether it be lightweighting through simplifying strength bridges or removing over-engineered screw threads and overcaps, or increasing recyclability through improving the mono-separation of materials, our Futurology department is committed to making packaging more sustainable.
